Animate the Night - MiceChat 10th Anniversary Cocktail Reception
Join a select group of animation superstars with a casual and fun MiceChat 10th Anniversary cocktail party at the lovely Anabella Hotel, steps away from the Disneyland Resort. We'll have a brief discussion with the animators about 2-D and 3-D animation, past and future. Then we'll enjoy a night of drinks, nibbles, and interaction with some of the most creative folks in the Animation industry!
The party, titled "Animate the Night," will celebrate some of the great talents of the animation industry. Here are some of the names you can expect to hear from and meet:
David Derks (Panel Moderator) is the Vice-President of ASIFA (the International Animated Film Society and producers of the Annie Awards). With ABC Television, he worked on shows like LOST, Alias, Gray's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives, among others. He is presently working for Twentieth Television as a web producer and is also producing animation for an independent film in production.
Dave Feiten is a triple-threat; he's worked with animatronics, animation and live-action on such projects as Men in Black 2, Toy Story 1 and 2, A Bug's Life, X-Men, Muppet-Vision 3D, Jurassic Park:the Ride, Le Tanier du Dragon, Splash Mountain, Star Tours, The American Adventure and many, many more. He's also written and illustrated an adorable childrens' book called The Crooked Crocodile. He's currently working with Garner Holt on a super-secret SECRET PROJECT for Disneyland's 60th Anniversary.
Mike Peraza is an artist whose work you've seen not only in the animation works of Disney, Warner Brothers and other studios, but also fine art in The Disney Gallery. He's also done commercial work, logos and some amazing toy design. You’ll delight in knowing that Mike is the Production Designer/Art Director behind Ariel the Little Mermaid and so many of your favorite TV animation Disney ducks.
James Lopez is an animation instructor at CalArts who really knows what he's teaching: he's worked on projects at studios such as Dreamworks, MGM, Warner Brothers, Disney and more. He animated Timon in The Lion King, Dr. Facilier in The Princess and the Frog, did story for Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi and Frozen, and is now helming the crowd-funded phenomenon "Hullabaloo". And, he has created, independently, an animated version of "America Sings”.
Floyd Norman is an author, animator and teacher. His first project with Disney was Sleeping Beauty, and he worked with Walt himself on The Jungle Book. His last "official" film before retiring from the Disney Company was Monsters, Inc. However, even in retirement, Floyd is constantly working on animation projects for various studios, including Disney Animation. He was named a Disney Legend in 2007 and is the subject of a documentary currently in production.
